This page is about exegesis or in other words an explanation of the choices that I have made during the creation of my web presence. For my web presence assignment among blogs, wikis or web sites I choose to do a blog, which is about swimming. I named this blogs as "Dee's Guide for Swimming", where as everyone in class know me as "Dee" and Swimming is my school time sport where I learned so much and had many experiences.
After making the first choice that i'm going to do a blog and deciding on the title of this blog is about what, next is designing of the blog. Firstly it was to choose a template design for the blog. When deciding on which template I going to use among the many designs available was a hard task. As i create this blog through 'Blogger.com' ,there are several themes that are available for templates such as dynamic views, simple, picture window, awesome Inc., water mark, ethereal and travel. For this blog the template used is picture window template where a picture can be used as the backdrop of the blog. I decide on this template because i needed to have a picture of a swimmer, dashing through the water with water plashes, since this blog's main theme is swimming and it titled as a guide for swimming. The background picture was selected through google images using the following web site for images,
"https://www.google.com.my/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&biw=1280&bih=675&q=swimming&gbv=2&oq=swimming&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&gs_l=img.3..0l10.691.1956.0."
When consider the colours of this image i prefered to have light colour back ground due to the use of other images and coloured fonts in the posts written. Furthermore in this chosen template the pages, contributing notes, about me page and the blogroll are all appear in the right side column one after the other while the blog posts will appear in the left side with a transparent backgrond so that the background image can be seen.
The contributing nodes used in this blog are facebook, Twitter and Thumblr. These contributing nodes are selected due the features of web 2.0 are embedded in them. Web 2.0 is a platform where emphasises on communication, collaboration and information sharing (O' Reilly, 2005). Among many platforms of web 2.0, blogs, wikis, facebook, twitter, tumblr and many more takes a major role. Therefore for this blog's contributing nodes, some of them are chosen. With the web 2.0 the blogs are dynamic and with links and RSS feeds the blogs become easier to share and read by any one in the world. Therefore in this blog a blogroll which links to the other blogs that i follow are given. Also due to the dynamic two way communication brought by web 2.0, the readers can comment on this blog as well as i can comment on theirs and reply their comments. Moreover sharing images, photos, videos and adding links to certain names so that readers can find about that person more by clicking on the name in the blog posts are some of the features of web 2.0 used in this blog.
The three contributing nodes helps to reflect the theme of this blog well. According to Blood (2000), weblogs or blogs have a mix of links, commentary and personal notes which will be shared in large as sort of a short journal on the web. Moreover with facebook all my friends can visit to this blog when i share it on the Facebok wall and the information is shared. With thumblr it is possible to share images and pictures of swimming as it is linked with this blog the followers can visit both sites for more information and search of images on swimming. Furthermore with twitter same as the other sites the follower can use the links to access to this blog as well as with twitter as i follow popular swimming figures the latest updates can be find out much faster.
Therefore with my central node, about page and the contributing nodes as mentioned above discuss the features that learned in the unit on web 2.0 and blogs. Moreover the posts shared and the images give the readers more information, knowledge and guide them and solve their questions about swimming. In addition i have shared some personal experiences that i have gone through and how connected the topic with me as the writer of this blog.
